Relations between Turkey and the Democratic Republic of Congo

The Turkish Embassy in Kinshasa has been active since 1974. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has opened its embassy in Ankara in 2011. DRC also has honorary consulates in Istanbul and İzmir.

The President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, paid an official visit to DRC on 14-16 March 2010. During this visit, the memorandum of understanding for establishing politic consultations between Foreign Affairs Ministries was signed. The first Political Consultation Meeting between Foreign Affairs Ministries of two counties was organized on the date of 4of March 2014 in Kinshasa, and the second meeting was organized on the date of 16 February 2016 in Ankara.

Since 1999, 9 policemen from our country have been working under the UN Mission of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

Between the two countries there is the mechanism of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC). The first JEC meeting was held in Ankara on 5-6 October 2009.

DEIK and the Congolese Companies Federation (FEC) signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Business Council on 6 June 2016 at Kinshasa.

Kinshasa Trading Consultancy We started to work as of October 2012. Our military attaché was active in August 2015.
